Her work is inspired by Japanese calligraphy. The twilight is an important part of her work. As in Japanese philosophy, dimensional space plays a key role in this spirit that sails between movement control and spontaneity. Hence arise abstract spaces with ink freezing the moment. A duality appears between features and the empty space. And thus the lines are generated by the energy flow and become truly alive. From the spirit, power flows to the body, which is channelled to the brush with no return. Sophie Pardo studied at the College of Fine Arts of Pau in France and then for three years specialised in graphic design. Subsequently she studied scenography at the Theatre Institute of Barcelona for four years. She has worked as a scenography specialist in various productions in Montreal.
Sophie Pardo was born in France and spent most of her childhood in Spain. Montreal became her home base ten years ago. She exhibits and works with the Milan Wannabee Gallery and with Kin Agency of San Diego. She has participated in various events and festivals and/or exhibited in New Orleans, London and Montreal galleries.
Her sunny bright studio in Hudson, Quebec is filled with works that translate the secrets of nature into a visual feast. Allison's works and words inspire you to take in the evening sunset a little longer and to linger outdoors more often.
I am currently living and working as a Graphic Designer and Artist in St. Lazare, Quebec. Originally from Alberta, I hold strong to my western roots which may be observed in my new series of Native American portraits and West Coast inspired artwork. I paint with acrylic, watercolor and mixed media. I think I have always been an artist.
From the beginning the process of creating something from nothing has struck me as magical. And, over the years, that magical process has had its way with me, leading me from doodler, to art student, to a professional. With much work and dedication I have been able to pull together all of my creative experience in art, design and illustration to launch my own freelance art and design business. During the course of my career I have been commissioned to paint limitless subjects, exhibited my art in a number of venues, worked in the field of graphic design for close to 10 years, and have illustrated an episode of a TV series produced and broadcasted by the CBC. In 2014 my daughter Shaine Robin was born. She has become my greatest muse, the centre of my world, and the inspiration behind Allison Robin Studios. I create from the heart. Every line in a sketch, every glimmer of light in an expression captured in a portrait is planned and carefully executed. Every art print is designed by me, professionally printed in large format, and then cropped with my own hands (and some tools) in my studio. |
