Since I began to give in to my creativity, I have had bursts of ideas flow out of me. I try to follow these explosive obsessions to their end. Some last longer than others and their scales vary. But what I find is that, by exploring the concept or technique, I am able to deepen my primary work. That process of creating without intention may be my favourite part. Or perhaps it is the absence of expectation. Those are the moments that are most free and where I am most present. In those moments peace envelops me. The works that come from those places, I often want to hold onto for myself. They are also the pieces that are purchased first. It took me almost a year to realize that I could allow myself more of those moments. I could spend less time trying to recreate the works that got the most likes. I could dive into the works that were truer to who I am. I could have a varied portfolio and still be taken seriously.
